UK Student Visa Policy Update: Immediate Restrictions for Four Nationalities
The UK government has announced an immediate change to its student visa policy, restricting study visa issuance for applicants holding passports from Afghanistan, Myanmar, Cameroon, and Sudan. This update outlines the implications for recruitment partners and the necessary compliance actions for handling affected applications.
Dear Agent Partners of UKEC,
We would like to inform you of an important and immediate update regarding UK student visa policy.
According to the latest communication received, the UK government will no longer issue study visas to applicants holding passports from the following nationalities:
- Afghanistan
- Myanmar
- Cameroon
- Sudan
This change takes effect immediately.
The decision has reportedly been made due to the high number of asylum claims submitted by individuals from these territories who previously entered the UK on study visas.
What this means for recruitment
Applications from students holding these nationalities should not be processed or submitted for UK study visa purposes.
If you currently have any active applicants from the above territories, please inform them accordingly and withdraw their cases immediately.
Please ensure your counselling teams are aware of this update to avoid compliance risks.
At present, this update has very limited operational impact on UKEC overall. However, it serves as a clear reminder that UKVI continues to closely monitor visa trends and may implement further measures where necessary.
We strongly encourage all partners to maintain strict compliance standards and ensure thorough pre-screening of applicants.
Should you have any questions or require clarification, please feel free to contact us.
